I was completing my research report, googling logo of Penang Matriculation College when I came across a senior's blog - Hoe Hong Xian, do take a look.  I was intrigued by how one would tell his stories about PMC.  Well, it happened that during his year in PMC (2014/2015), there were tonnes of activities to participate in.  And he solely joined 4 clubs there, I was like "wow!".  Okay, first off, I have to admit that I am a lazy bone, retreating from almost every clubs or sports which consume my time.  Even in secondary school, I was the President of Chung Hwa's News Club, vice secretary of Jujur House and member of St. John only.  Why Chung Hwa's News Club? Because I don't get to stay up late in school for activities. I was only responsible for bringing latest weekly news of my school, for e.g the cream of Chung Hwa, activities to be held etc.  All that I have to do was typing, pretty easy right.  As for Jujur and St.John, they are kind of compulsory, so I cannot run away from it anyhow.  I don't participate in any sports competition (except jogathon).  So you must be wondering how on earth can I get into a matriculation college with only excellent academic performance.  Well, as I mentioned earlier, I was a President.  Provided my club served my school, I got a bonus mark for that.  And I did participate in mandarin poem/essay writing competition (which I got a few prizes), Mathematics Olympiad Competition (ranked National, although I don't get any prize, well, it's quite impossible for me to shine bright in this competition, I am just an ordinary girl, not a genius), Tales Spin etc.  To grant you an access to any matriculation college, you gotta have good academic performance and good co-curricular performance.  Try your very best to participate in any National competition and try to outshine the others in those competitions for the sake of co-curricular marks.  I merely managed to obtain 7.98 for my co-cu marks.  Shame on me.  That's why I was a second batch to get in PMC.  It did matter if you are a second batch, believe me.  That was how people labelled you.
Let's get back to the point.  I only joined two clubs in PMC, Orator's Club and Biology Club.  I took co-curricular and English for first semester and English, Moral and Dinamika for second semester.  Joining Orator was an inevitable one, I didn't get to choose any club, because I was a second batch (the disadvantage, well there is advantage too: dreadful orientation week endured by the first batch only).  I intended to join Alchemy Club initially, but there were obstacles you see.  And I am glad I am not in the club due to the teacher in charge.  Anyway I join the Biology Club with my friends at last.  Joining Biology was fun actually.  We had activities like recycling, planting by vegetative approach and repainting the Biology display room.  And there will be a Science Carnival by the end of February.  I will be a volunteer for Biology Club by then, I am looking forward for it!
Some update for my recent condition: I got a four flat for PSPM 1 and Band 5 for my MUET, as in expectation.  Normally Chinese here got flat flats for their PSPM doubtlessly.  Getting a four flat partially grants you the path to local university, depends on your course applied.
As for me, after some light research, I will opt for Chemical Engineering as my first choice followed by Pure Chemistry, Applied Chemistry and Genetic and Biological Molecule.  You can see, I am pretty well into Chemistry lol.  But I know that Chemical Engineering mainly dwell with Physics and part of Chemistry and a lil bit of Biology.  My Physics is okay anyway.  I'm an average achiever (not to brag).
Happy Chinese New Year, xo.
