Penang island trip
Saturday, January 2, 2016

My college is in mainland. So we decided a one day trip to penang island on the second day of 2016. We left KMPP at 735 and reached the jetty around 8. We boarded the ferry at around 9. Pretty crowded. Shameless me trying to walk across the short cut (for pregnant women , old folks and OKU), failed miserably.
We started off our trip when we reached penang island around 930. We walked to Lebuh Victoria to rent bicycles. RM10 per person, unlimited time, so it's good. Oh, I spent RM10 from KMPP to jetty (two way).
We rented Korea bikes, lighter and more colorful, which suit us as teenagers. We intended to go to Ah Lai Kopitiam for breakfast. Nevertheless, after cycling around the area for quite a long time, vased on paper map, we couldn't find it!
AT LAST, I remembered my brother used to use Waze to wander around for tourist spots, that was when I thought I should use Waze instead of depending on the paper map. Later we found the Ah Lai effortlessly. The time was 11 something, perfect for brunch.
I ordered curry mee and a cup of milk tea. I wasn't expecting a curry maggi mee with hot dogs, raw egg and a piece of cheese, what on earth is this (-.-!). To conclude, this place was overrated. Totally not worthwhile. We shared a plate of roti special (which was actually hot dogs, egg and cheese). These whole brunch costed me around RM9. Hmm.
We went on finding street arts. Actually we went to streey arts before, so we just ventured to the streets in same direction and opposite direction to the traffic. We were crazy admittedly.
We ate flavored ice ball, four of us (me, shu qing, siok geik and prem) shared two balls. Mine was ribena-flavored. RM3.00 per ice ball. Okay, we just wanna tasted the fun.
Initially we intended to go to Yee Ting's house, our lecture mate. We couldn't reached her by the time we cycled to the road around her house and we called it quit, such a disappointment.
We directed to M Mall which is located in Penang Timesquare. Perhaps you should wait for a few months for M Mall to fully developed. By the way we had fun taking pictures there. Here are some.
It is somewhere worthed going. I would say so. And then we went to First Avenue for shopping. It's lunatic heading the direction opposite to traffic but it was the shortest path and we cycled anyway.
I didn't shop but they did. We went for early dinner in food court. Four of us ordered porridge at I Love Yoo! Porridge is something I would really appreciate eating at the mean time, no porridge in KMPP by the way, just to mention.
And we made our way to return the bikes around 1715. We then went back by ferry and then van. I called it a meaningful and cheerful day :)
In the nutshell, it was a budget trip for me not spending more than RM50 including the transportation fees. Hope you enjoy this post !
