Chinese culture camp
Sunday, May 4, 2014

May.  Time flies swiftly and hits me with a pang of guilt.  I have never paid much attention to my study, which results in a relatively poor result.  I'm sorry for neglecting my blog for a while !  Merely because I had been attending a camp held by New Era College, basically about Chinese culture.
It's a three-day-two-night camp.  Frankly speaking, I have never been to any camp before in my entire life.  I'm not prefect, nor an active member of uniformed societies.  I turned down every opportunity to get in touch in camp.  I have a bad impression about camp - torturing.  But then I signed up this camp in April.  Furthermore, I thought I must do something thrilling to leave an unforgettable mark in my form five life.  The main reason I signed up for it is because I would like to understand Chinese culture more. As for me, it's a shame for a Chinese to not understand his own culture, be it protecting it.  The venue is Chung Hwa Middle Independant School.
I was literally cheated.  The teacher in charged told us there will be beds and pillows awaiting us, the truth is we sleep on tikar mengkuang on the floor.
We were divided into 10 Groups according to the Chinese dynasties, eg Shang Dynasties, Xia Dynasties, Song Dynasties, Tang Dynasties and so on.
The first day of camping was pretty boring and tiring.  Ice breaking.  Movie.  Story sharing.  Etc.  I loved second day more as compared to the first day.  We learnt about 扯铃, 二十四节令鼓(Chinese drum),茶艺(tea), 吃汤圆(rice ball),射灯谜, just to name a few.  We moved all day long.  Then, we learnt about 武术(wushu) on the third day.  I liked most of the activities.
There were no worries to endure famishment and the food provided were delicious.  Thumbs up*. Some people were being nice while some were not.  I guess I was one of the later.  Lol.

I was in Song Dynasties, comprising 13 members ( including one skilled supervisor who is the student of Chung Hwa Independant School).
Our slogan is 买一送一,买一送一 (buy one free one, abbreviation), 买到你爽爽爽(song song song, as in Hokkien) . 爽啊(song a)!  It's pretty funny.

I took some pictures before waving goodbye.  Nick at my side.  Girls fancy over him (like hell) because of his handsomeness.  Rather than fancy him, I adore him.  He sings he writes song and most importantly he is the same age as me.
If I happen to have another chance, I would make the same decision and go to this camp.  I probably would not be going any more camp in my life.  I just don't like the feeling.  Now I finally get it when people say "Home Sweet Home".
